Alteirinhos is official nudist beach and very close to the beach in Zambujeira do Mar, used to be a hippie beach. When the tide is low islands of sand emerge from the sea, a freshwater spring adds to its charm. Alteirinhos – Zambujeira do Tonel beach Nudism is tolerated and you’ll see lots of naked swingers and folk. To get there head toward Cabo sardão take a turning in the direction of Herdade do Touril. Behind the Resort you’ll find one of the most beautiful and wild beaches in the Alentejo coast. Be prepared to descend grabbing a rope, don’t take too much with you it’ll slow you down.
Beach 19 is a very large gay nude beach which is part of a Nature Reserve and it’s about 30km south of Lisbon’s center. The name comes from the fact that the zone around the stop number 19 of the beach train became the area most popular with gays. Beach 19 is the “gay-section” of a very extensive stretch of sand known as Costa da Caparica. It is officially a nude beach (by law) but you can opt between being naked or keeping your swim-suit.
This has become the third naturist Beach in the region, the pair of Praia da Bela Vista and do Meco. There are quite many nudist beaches along the beautiful Portuguese coast, where nudity is the norm, not just with foreign tourists and residents but with the Portuguese nudists themselves.
Caneiros is a small beach, very pleasant, attended almost exclusively by nudists. With stunning rock formations, yellow smooth sand and warm waters is a paradise for nude bathers. Caneiros naturist beach is located close to Ferragudo near Portimão towards the East.
Again, not officially a nudist beach but you find many nudist enjoying the beach mainly on the weekend. You can find Estela beach in North Póvoa de Varzim. It’s a beautiful wide sandy beach.
Near S. Martinho do Porto, south of Nazaré is a beach where sighting nudists at large is not uncommon.
This is a beautiful white sandy beach, crystal clear waters and backed by impressive cliffs. It’s located 40km south of Lisbon, although one of the best on the Lisbon coast, this beach is a little challenging to reach by public transportation. You must take the bus to Sesimbra from Lisbon’s Praça de Espanha bus terminal, and get off at Santana. From there, around 8 buses daily run to Meco village.
Meco beach is really popular by the Portugese and also well known internationally. The beach is a mecca for surfers and nudists. Ever wanted to tackle the surf while in the buff? There’s no better spot than this raw and rugged beach, south of Lisbon. A hotspot for naked bathers since the Seventies, it’s still pulling in the punters — sans bikinis. Don’t miss a filthy wallow in its mud baths before rinsing yourself off in the cool Atlantic.
Monte Naturista O Barao , near Santiago do Cacem in the Alentejo, run by Dutch couple Jeff and Laura, with help from their English friends and co-workers Jill and Andy. Norte beach is just outside Nazaré, to the northwest. It’s not uncommon to occasionally see nudists in here.
Osso da Baleia is found near Pompal, south of Figueira da Foz. It’s a very long beach with occasional and nudism is becoming more common.
It’s found between Afife beach and Viana do Castelo, in Minho Province. It’s a rocky beach but there’s a good stretch of sand and there’s occasional nudity.
It’s no wonder naturists folk to this long white sandy beach. Located in central Portugal, near Peniche, North of Baleal.
Praia do Salgado beach begins at Armação de Pêra and stretches eastwards along the coast for many kilometres. A lagoon and sand dunes separate it from a nearby golf course. It’s a pleasant sandy beach with beautiful landscape, clear waters. Nudity in this gorgeous beach is a fast-growing habit.
North of Peniche, between Baleal and Óbidos Lagoon is a beach that is not unfamiliar to nudism. Occasionally there’s been nudists sunbathing au natural.

The official naturist beach Praia do Salto is located near “Porto Covo”, between Sines and Milfontes. It is a sheltered and quiet beach with lovely soft sand. The only downside is the climb down to the beach, this is not an easy climb but it is worth the effort. All in all a really good naturist beach.

A beautiful long, white sandy beach, part of which is an official nudist area. The nudist beach – section of beach between Terra Estreita and Praia de Tavira.
Many nudist folk to this isolated, over 3Km of savage unattended beach. It’s located between Pedrogao and Vieira de Leiria.
